Job Title: Linux DevOps Administrator

Overview:

The Linux Systems Administrator will ensure the deployment, high availability, performance, and scalability of the Linux infrastructure in a 24/7x 365 production environment. This position involves the installation, upgrade, optimization of hardware, software, and services across a variety of platforms and technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience managing Linux systems and maintaining large enterprise server farms.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementation, maintenance, planning and capacity management of the production and development environments.

Build and maintain LAMP style websites in a highly scalable environment.

Build/Upgrade and maintain a Nagios Infrastructure.

Update and maintain a Puppet infrastructure to manage all aspects of the production environment.

Work together with Support, Development and QA engineers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues.

Establish operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management

Production deployment planning, testing and verification.

Assess utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture

Assist in the planning of all aspects of Network and Infrastructure related projects.

Assist in PCI and SAS70 remediation.

Required Skills:

Minimum 3-5 Years experience with Linux (Red Hat or Centos preferred)

Experience maintaining and deploying software to large enterprise server farms

Experience working with Linux in a virtual environment (KVM, Xen or VMware Preferred)

Experience using monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti, and MRTG.

3+ years experience in system administration level Shell Scripting (Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python preferred)

Experience in rapid deployment environments utilizing system automation tools such as Chef, Puppet or Cfengine.

Understand and embrace a DevOps infrastructure environment.

Experience with Open Source projects and compiling custom software.

Must be able to work independently.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Self-starter with the ability to proactively identify possible issues and suggest corrective action

Available for 24x7 on call support.

Desired Technology Skills:

Hardware - All makes and models of Dell and HP hardware. Any experience with load balancers considered a plus (Foundry preferred, F5 or Cisco acceptable).

Middleware Software - Jboss (WebSphere, Weblogic acceptable) Apache, Tomcat, MongoDB (Membase, Riak acceptable)

Database Software - Postgres, MySQL or Oracle

Virtualization - Amazon, Rackspace, KVM, XEN or VMWare preferred.

Linux Infrastructure - DNS, LDAP, Red Hat Satellite Server, Puppet (Chef or Cfengine acceptable), RPM packaging, SMTP, SNMP, NFS, SVN, DHCP, VOIP, SQL, Ngrep, Wireshark, tcpdump, SELinux. Check_Mk, Nagios, Cacti, SSL, SSH

Security - Experience with 3 Tier Architectures, SAS70, PCI Compliance, Intrusion detection and security scanning.
