UNIX/Linux Systems Engineer
Salary: 100-110K Plus 0-10% Bonus
This firm prefers a candidate with Sun Linux experience, strong Symantac, Veritas products foundation, VCS, WR 4.1-5.0. Performance tuning, troubleshooting, degree preferred, Scripting in Perl, Shell is ideal. We will look at an individual with straight Linux, preferably with VCS or some sort of clustering out of a large shop! Performance tuning, troubleshooting, Scripting are a good plus to have.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for planning, implementing and performing all of the various tasks required to operate and maintain multiple Linux and Solaris systems.
Maintain mission critical trading platforms
Resolves system problems by debugging, identifying the root cause and applying corrective maintenance.
Resolves system performance problems by careful analysis of the available information sources, identifies the root cause and recommends appropriate tuning activities.
Initiates new responsibilities and helps plan for the future of the site/network
Customer Focus: Makes and meets internal customer commitments, including closing customer issues in a timely manner.
Driving standards for system administration processes and writing scripts to automate the processes.
Participating in Unix System Admin team's 24/7 On-call & Early support rotation
Experience:
Hands-on experience with Solaris jumpstarting and RedHat Linux Kickstart server build outs on x86 hardware.
Expertise with Symantec products including Storage Foundation RAC, VCS, Foundation Suite & NetBackup.
Expertise with RedHat Linux Administration and Performance tuning.
Experience with Solaris 10.x Zones and Containers.
Experience with IPMP/Link Aggregation/Bonding.
Experience with fine tuning OS for low latency and network performance troubleshooting is plus.
Experience with RedHat KVM and RHEV is plus.
Experience with VMWARE ESXi administration is desirable.
Shell/Pert Scripting.
Minimum 5 years of experience.
College degree or equivalent
Employment Type: Permanent
Pay: $100,000 to $110,000 USD
Pay Period: Annual
