Prestigious Global Enterprise Company located in Houston, Texas is currently looking for a Linux and HPUX Engineer. Candidate will lead the planning, implementation, and support of the UNIX systems provisioning and maintenance. Oracle and SAP on Unix is a big plus. They are currently adding Linux to their environment and need someone who is experience in building a Linux environment.
Responsibilities:
* Performs installation, upgrade, configuration, deployment, and administration of the Linux and HP-UX (UNIX) operating systems and hardware.
* Coordinates OS version upgrades, software fixes, and preventative maintenance to minimize risk and service disruptions.
* Develops standards, guidelines, and procedures for implementation and support of UNIX computing infrastructure. Considers integration of UNIX services with balance IT infrastructure and support teams.
* Resolves highly complex availability, capacity, and performance issues.
* Implements automation procedures and tools to optimize staff and computing resources and their availability.
* Collaborates with database administrators and application support staff to design and provision services, and troubleshoot problems.
* Provides after-hours and weekend support as needed.
* May act as team leader in project planning and implementation at an advanced technical level. Schedules and stewards project resources and deliverables.
* Works independently with some latitude for independent action or decision.
* Expert in Linux and HP-UX systems.
* UNIX virtualization technologies.
* Proficient in UNIX security vulnerabilities and remediation.
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months
Pay: $65 to $80 USD
Pay Period: Hourly
