Summary

This is a full time, permanent opportunity to serve as DBA for this growing team. Responsible for database administration, tuning and opportunity for data modelling. Will primarily assist in scaling out the MySQL Database. Work with TALENTED software engineers who are primarily programming in Ruby on Rails. Executive leadership has proven successful track history and is sure to take this company thru mature growth as part of the $218 Billion Online Advertising industry.

Responsibilities

Responsible for database design, programming, administration, tuning and optimization.

Accountability for functional completeness and delivery against performance and supportability.

Developing complex SQL scripts and stored procedures in support of application development.

Translate customer specifications into quality deliverables. Follows and enhances coding standards and development guidelines.

Qualifications

Database design, development, tuning, optimization, & capacity planning

Managed large scale Production database systems

At minimum, one year of MySQL Database Administration - great role for "developer recently turned DBA"

Troubleshooting skills. Comfortable resolving/anticipating DB-related resource contention such as CPU, memory, I/O, network, and disk space.

Experienced with backups, restores, recovery models and high availability

Expertise in indexes, index management, and related statistics

Very comfortable working in a cloud based Unix/Linux server environment

Thrives in a startup. Team player with top communication skills. Organized and Systematic

Experienced leveraging open source DBA tools and applications

Experienced implementing operational automation using scripts

Stays on top of the latest database tools, techniques, and technology

PLUS: Experience with a NoSQL or PostgreSQL database

PLUS: Involvement in the open source community
