Summary

Our client is looking for a Unix/Linux Administrator whose responsibilities will require working with multiple groups such as Network, Security, Project MGT, Production Support, Application Development and Architecture. You must be familiar with operational disciplines such as project management, problem management, change management, network/server monitoring, system monitoring and server backups/restores. This Administrator must have the ability to analyze complex problems, interprets operational needs, and develops integrated, creative solutions. This is a high-availability Enterprise and will require after-hours and occasional weekend work. Candidates must be able to work independently but also be able to work well as a team member, should show good leadership skills, and have strong time management skills. Responsibilities will include monitoring, data security, create and maintain audit logs and journals for daily critical tasks, prepare and maintain departmental procedures required by PCI, SAS70, SOX and GLPA requirements. Must ensure system stability, scalability, security and performance requirements plus implement and maintain security controls on all corporate systems. This is a three month contract to hire opportunity in Knoxville TN.

Responsibilities

Provide senior level system administrative support for hardware, OS and 3rd party utilities for multiple UNIX and Linux environments

Responsible for installation of OS images, configurations, adding of SAN storage, building of file systems and performing the necessary testing of the HW and OS

Monitors daily operations of the environment for availability and performance

Develops and maintains operational documentation and specifications on system builds and SOPs

Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software problems as they occur

Backup and recovery of all systems and applications in the environment

Test and implement the latest and up-to-date version of all software installed on the Servers

Act as a technical resource for all UNIX and Linux related questions within the organization

Responsible for all systems administration, monitoring, reporting, OS tuning, and design of tools to manage the environment more effectively

Qualifications

Must have 5+ years of UNIX and Linux System Administration experience with Oracle Solaris 10 and Linux RHEL6. Hardware including, HP Servers, SUN V490, V890, T Series, M Series and SUNBLADE Technology

Must have experience with native OS multi-pathing technology, Veritas Net backup, and EMC Powerpath

Should have a strong understanding of Low level OS processes and internals. This includes Kernel parameters and OS tunable. Extensive experience with OS tools, Scripting, batch jobs, and third party tools. Must have a strong understanding of the OS patching process, package definition and creation

Knowledge in the following areas is a plus: Apache, Oracle Database, Monitoring Software, CA Unicenter, WebSphere, Tibco, DNS, Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File Systems, Storage Area Network Administration (SAN Storage, EMC Control Center, Storage Provisioning and Zoning)

Proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues including zoning, configuration, synchronization, routing, etc.

Experience designing and deploying monitoring tools; This individual should be confident to technically lead project teams as well as deliver on stand-alone engagements

Project Management experience is a plus

ZFS and Virtualization experience is highly desired
