GoDaddy.com/Tempe, AZThis position is responsible for leading a team of Linux Administrators and Engineers. The primary focus of this group is to manage the day to day operations of the Corporate Go Daddy Production Shared IT Services Linux environment and maintain the highest level of availability and performance possible. This requires the manager of this team to be aware of all capacity, stability, and performance issues and to address them before they create customer impact. This position will be responsible for implementation and support of the Production Shared IT Linux infrastructure, while supporting numerous development teams in terms of application deployments. The engineering aspect of this organization will be focused on infrastructure projects in support of this environment, strategically looking at solutions and improvements to our environment that can improve efficiences through costs, performance, and capacity.
What does the job entail?
•Oversight and prioritization of both daily and longer term tasks and responsibilities.
•Responsible for the design and implementation of new projects for this environment and for the supporting infrastructure.
•Conduct performance reviews per the company schedule.
•Overall responsibility for the health, capacity and performance of the Production Technologies Linux environment. The manager will participate in the review of these systems from a capacity and performance standpoint and make recommendations that will maintain the stability and performance of the various Linux environments. This includes quarterly reporting on the health of these systems.
•Responsible for the overall management of the team including coaching and mentoring, hiring and firing and other disciplinary actions if required.
•Responsible for staying current with new technologies in the Linux arena. Making sure we can leverage new technologies to reduce cost and improve reliability/ performance.
•Open Source advocate by getting out in the community and touting Go Daddy successes
•Attend and guest speak within the Open Source community and appropriate conferences
Do you have what it takes?
•Four year degree or equivalent work experience.
•Five years experience supporting and administering Linux systems.
•At least 3 years experience managing an engineering/operations group or acting in a technical lead capacity.
•Experience supporting a large 24x7 production environment required.
•Solid understanding of Linux system configuration, package management, and configuration/support of services including Apache, PHP, Tomcat, BIND, and JBOSS.
•Experience with progressive web technologies including Lighttpd, Varnish, memcached, and Cassandra a strong plus.
•Experience HA and load balancing
•Working knowledge of Puppet and Spacewalk/Satellite a plus.
•Extreme attention to detail and process.
•Strong project management and prioritization skills.
•Ability to achieve specific results from general direction.
•Effective written and verbal communication.
•Experience with ITIL or COBIT a plus.
•Working knowledge of virtualization technologies a plus.
