Job Description:
The Senior Linux Administrator's primary objective is the ongoing growth, enhancement, and maintenance of the internal and production data centers in order provide the performance, scalability, and up-time required by our growing base of software solution customers. Along with assisting IT Project Management in project planning details and mentorship of Intermediate Linux Administrators and Support Engineers, the Senior Linux Administrator is the final-level responder for all major Support Escalations.
Responsibilities:
Perform regular maintenance of Servers and networks in our 4 main offsite datacenters
Continually enhance monitoring and support documentation of the infrastructure
Work with other team members and project managers to design and plan new infrastructure build outs and enhancements
Assist the team with server build-out, hardening, and review
Assist with production deployment activities of new software services or upgrades
Assist in annual 3rd party audit processes and reviews
Assist in high-level escalation production support issues
Contribute toward mentorship of other team members
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Linux/Solaris/UNIX Administration roles
Experience in a high-availability hosted application environment
Strong understanding of Cisco PIX/ASA and HA configurations
Solid background in intrusion detection and intrusion prevention techniques
Familiarity with EMC SANs, Navisphere - specifically dealing with Emulex and QLogic HBAs using FibreChannel as the transport method
Knowledge of routing, Firewalling, T1 & MPLS connections and a wide range of high availability concepts (eg heartbeat, mon.d)
Excellent knowledge of Hardware and Software Load Balancing tools and techniques
Good background in Server Virtualization - ideally with ESXi
Good understanding of Nagios and/or Zabbix
Solid Shell Scripting skills
Experience with Dell hardware, Switches, and Routers is an asset
Familiarity with JBoss and MySQL is an asset
Excellent incident identification and problem solving skills
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent organizational and coordination skills
