ABOUT THE PROJECT
GTN Technical Staffing has an urgent need for a strong UNIX/Linux Systems Engineer opportunity in Dallas, TX. Our client is feeling a deep sense of urgency and will begin conducting technical phone screens ASAP. The Systems Engineer will provide technical assistance and training to internal employees as well as perform the duties detailed below.
JOB SUMMARY
Install new/rebuild existing Servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
Review system and application logs
Verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities Configure/add new services as necessaryREQUIREMENTS
4-6Â years system administration experience
Bachelors degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science or equivalent experience
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and/or Linux and Microsoft
Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications
Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to a changing and high growth environment
Experience resolving complex issues related to computer hardware or software
Experience with troubleshooting Microsoft and UNIX/Linux operating systems
