LINUX Administrator - Silver Spring, MD

Position Description:
Account Management services, including addition, deletion, and modification of user accounts. Troubleshooting services, including working with users to resolve problems with Windows and Windows interconnectivity, Commerce-off-the-shelf (COTS) software, OCS custom developed software, OCS required software. Working with manufacturers, resellers, and vendors who provide technical telephone support for software and hardware problems. Recommendations for product procurement, including working with vendors to determine proposed solutions and obtaining quotes.

Working with other LAN administrators to exchange information as well as solve larger scale problems. Audit services including weekly auditing and reporting (stored on identified OCS network server) on pre-scheduled OCS network devices. Administration of RedHat Enterprise Linux servers and workstations. System security, firewall configuration and system monitoring; LDAP configuration; TCP/IP networking/troubleshooting; NFS/Samba configuration; SAN configuration, optimization, and tuning; X Windows, Exceed, and X server/client troubleshooting; hardware troubleshooting and support of Dell workstations and servers, RAID configuration, SAN/fibre channel configuration; and support of 64 bit systems.

Required Skills:
8 years experience with solid administrative skills, RedHat, backups, system updates, IT Security experience, etc. Shell scripting and automation experience. Experience with web servers, including Apache/Tomcat. Experience with support in a shared Windows/Linux environment. Ability to multi-task and handle multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously. Good communication and documentation skills (both written and oral).

Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.

Education:
BA/BS in Computer Science or related degree (preferred), or equivalent experience.
