Essential education/qualifications (2 of the following)
ASE Administrator Professional
Certification for Technical Consultant
IBM Certified Database Administrator
Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Administrator/Developer
Oracle Certified Master
Essential experience:
Installation/configuration of databases
SQL Clustering management
Oracle RAC Support
Good working knowledge of Linux
Creation of tables and indexes
Creation/upkeep of maintenance scripts
Implementation of security
Architecture design
Troubleshooting of database application/backup errors
Restore of databases. Execution of stored procedures
Configuration and support of SQL replication
Log Shipping Patch/service pack updates
Establishing relationships and maintaining contacts with people from a variety of backgrounds
Effective and sensitive communicator in different societies and cultures
Determining a course of action by breaking it down into smaller steps and by planning and resourcing each of these, making allowance for potential problems
