Linux Systems Administrator
A fantastic opportunity to work for a growing global media organisation based in Brighton, our client is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to provide quality 3rd line support to their infrastructure.
As the Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for administering both in-house systems and satellite offices in the USA and Germany.
The role will be focused on the production hardware cluster.
Job requirements
*Over 3 years supporting a 20+ node Linux compute cluster (academic or commercial)
*In depth knowledge of Linux, in particular how to tune for performance
*Experience with configuration management, ideally puppet
*Experience managing and using monitoring and trending systems, ideally ganglia
*A strong CS degree is not a requisite, but extensive knowledge of the field is essential
Experience of any of the following would be particularly beneficial
*Distributed development (ideally in Java or one of its DSLs)
*Tuning and configuration of local networking for performance (on gigabit Ethernet and ideally Infiniband)
*JVM Garbage Collection
*Web server support
*RDBMS tuning and support, ideally PostgreSQL
*Hadoop/HBase cluster support
*Involvement with open source projects
