The leading international organisation has operations in more than 50 countries and their Melbourne based IT Data Centre is expanding and they are looking for an experienced Senior Unix Systems Administrator to join their team. Reporting to the Unix and Storage Team Leader you will be working in an experienced, dynamic team providing technical support for a large enterprise Red Hat, Solaris and AIX production environment.

Specific tasks will include:

Resolving assigned tickets and incidents according to defined processes;

Reviewing processes and technologies, identifying areas for improvement and working towards implementing those changes with cooperation of the team;

Providing proactive support on Unix, storage and backup systems and related technologies as required;

Ensuring regular maintenance tasks and processes are followed, including server patching, process reviews, backups and audits;

Identifying opportunities and implementing automation to improve overall support and system quality;

Providing on-call and after hours support as required on a rotational basis, and;

Working with other project and support teams and management as required.

This is an opportunity where you will be working across a variety of IT areas, identifying opportunities and affecting change within the team and department, so to qualify you must be able to demonstrate:

Excellent knowledge and experience with Unix administration including Solaris and Red Hat in a large, complex production environment;

Experience identifying process and technology improvements and implementing change including experience in Scripting using Perl and python;

Ability to influence change and mentor staff;

Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and apply technical knowledge;

Willingness to provide after hours and on-call support;

Good verbal and written communication skills, and;

Any experience and knowledge of AIX, SAN, NAS and backups would be highly regarded.
