About the General Motors GoMobile Application Development team:
The innovation behind the GoMobile team is another example of how GM is breaking down the walls of conventional technological thinking. GM's new GoMobile Application Development team is responsible for delivering enterprise/internal-facing and consumer/external-facing mobile applications. Our industry-leading developers, engineers, and architects develop, test, and deploy GoMobile applications using Agile methodology.
About the role:
As a developer on the Mobile team you will use your skills to develop native apps that run on phones and tablets. You will not only be responsible for properly ensuring that the apps render correctly, manage memory allocation, and properly handle battery life; but be stretched to bring new ideas and innovation thoughts for mobile apps to be developed which will drive business value into GM. You will be asked to develop apps for business units which include, but not limited to the Sales, Service, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Business Service departments. This position will be part of larger mobile development team which includes; team members with innovative thought leadership, an environment which is dynamic and fun to work in, and leaders that are revolutionizing the way GM operates and mobile development occurs.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Developing prototypes quickly, writing client-side code for native mobile apps, and identifying sound mobile architecture. An understanding of and practical experience with, Android for Java and Object C code.
- Building integration of mobile native apps to back-end web services and objects. An understanding of, and practical experience, with integrating JSON and REST based services.
- Understanding new mobile technology and industry trends that will allow you to innovate and propose new ideas for mobile native apps which if implemented, will drive value for GM.
- Localize and internationalize mobile apps for markets outside of the US.
- Work closely with senior developers and software engineers to gain additional knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, including mobile software development for Android and iOS devices.
- Experience with writing code in Objective-C, C, C++, C#, Java, and Java for mobile platforms.
- Experience in design and development of native applications running on mobile platforms.
- Experience with mobile software development kit (SDK)
- Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle
- Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- Agile methodology experience
