Major provider of consumer services is seeking a high level Sr. Manager of Linux/UNIX to manage over Sun Solaris v.10 and a very enterprise Linux environment with some storage and vmware. Will also be leading the UNIX technology teams, virtualization program and introduction of the Linux capabilities to the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Develop base infrastructure for Linux technology inclusive of Linux capabilities and Unix/Linux server virtualization as well as operational readiness for the entire technology stack.
Design, develop, and implement, operation and control of large, complex UNIX, Linux and virtualization technology solutions ranging from infrastructure technologies.
Implementation and maturing of the Linux and UNIX server environments as well as integration to collaborate with the existing solutions.
System resiliency, disaster tolerance, and regulatory compliance.
Create, design, and lead the technical implementation and rollout efforts of the Linux program as well as the server virtualization program and Linux and UNIX.
Responsible for creating effective Unix/Linux designs from functional requirements in a large enterprise data center environment which includes highly virtualized systems that operate in conjunction other platforms such as storage and networking.
Develop operational processes to address enhancements to the capabilities and periodic maintenance.
Design and lead a holistic approach to manage the Unix/Linux service capability while standardizing on single hardware and software solutions.
Provide leadership to engineering staff in the development of capabilities and their support while adhering to architectural guidelines.
Qualifications:
Must be out of a large enterprise environment.
Must be a Sr. Manager over Sun Solaris and have experience working in a large UNIX/Linux environment.
Must be in a management role in a current role managing over 45+ people for a min of 5 years continuously.
5+ years. of infrastructure technology experience specifically UNIX/Linux should include accountability for all aspects of leading an organization including people processes, client partner relationships, work processes and delivery of work products.
Advanced experience with infrastructure design and function.
UNIX (Solaris), Linux (RHEL) experience. Storage a plus.
Experience with standardized processes fro capability development and life cycle.
UNIX administration skills for a variety of UNIX/Linux variants.
Strong leadership and ability to maintain leading edge skills in a rapidly changing environment.
Note: Client is looking for a Sr. Manager in a most current role; they will not look at Project Managers, Program managers, or Leads.
Employment Type: Permanent
Pay: $130,000 to $160,000 USD
Pay Period: Annual
