Prestigious Professional Services Firm is seeking a 5+ years Senior Unix Engineer with preferably Sun Solaris 10 and Linux. Will look at a straight Linux engineer with Red Hat 5/6. The key to this job is Linux Kernel tuning, performance DTRACE and Linux Clustering experience. This position is in the Infrastructure Services department, specifically the Unix Fulfillment team. Infrastructure Services' goal is to provide smart, efficient, and quality technology solutions, along with superior customer service to the internal technical teams who support the company business units. The Unix Fulfillment Team's responsibility is many-fold: delivering new and replacement Unix/Linux hosting solutions, coordinate and oversee the execution of Unix/Linux changes, consult with clients on and lead performance and system tuning efforts, collaborate with the with the architecture team to drive new hardware and OS direction, system security, and general Unix/Linux consultation. To that end, Infrastructure Services seeks to add energetic and self-motivated individuals who enjoy the challenge of maintaining the highest levels of availability and performance in the face of today's constantly changing IT environment.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

Advanced knowledge (7+ years of experience) of Solaris 10 required which consists of zones/containers, ZFS, and server creation

Advanced knowledge of Oracle hardware, specifically M-series and T-series products as well as x86 architecture Servers including both rack mount and blade

Advanced knowledge of Solaris Clustering technology

Advanced knowledge and use of Linux (Red Hat 5/6)

Moderate to advanced knowledge of hypervisor technologies, specifically Oracle VM or VMWare

Candidate should understand what jumpstart is and its role within the UNIX server build process

Very strong understanding of other infrastructure domains such as storage (SAN/NAS), networking and security is expected

Advanced knowledge of Unix Scripting tools

Advanced knowledge of Kernel tuning and performance management of Solaris and Red Hat Linux (physical and virtual environments)

Extensive experience with performance tuning Solaris and Linux Servers running specific applications

Extensive experience using Unix and Linux Kernel tuning tools

Moderate working knowledge of Oracle databases and their interaction with the Solaris Operating System

Preferred but Not Required:

Moderate to advanced knowledge of Solaris 11

Moderate to advanced knowledge of Oracle engineered systems, such as, Exadata.

Advanced working knowledge of Oracle databases and their interaction with the Solaris Operating System

Understanding of Big Data concepts and available hardware

Moderate knowledge and experience working with OEM Ops Center

Strong understanding of Unix/Linux security

Extensive experience with infrastructure applications running on Unix and Linux, such as WebSphere, Tivoli Access Manager and Java.

Required Experience:

Bachelor's Degree which reflects an interest in IT related area of study (Information Systems or Computer Science).

Exhibits strong organizational skills - ability to perform tasks & achieve results independently and as part of a team, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.

Exhibits a strong work ethic with the desire to be challenged.

Exhibits analytical skills - strong attention to detail, with the ability to critique and interpret data as well as formulate sound decisions.

Solid interpersonal communication skills, including written and oral.

Computer Proficiency/Development Skills with any of the following:

Unix administration skills

Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

Desired Experience:

Intermediate to advanced administration of Solaris 10 Operating System

Intermediate to advanced administration of Solaris Virtualization

Intermediate to advanced administration of RedHat Linux Operating System

Employment Type: Permanent

Pay: $70,000 to $115,000 USD
Pay Period: Annual
Other Pay Info: BONUS
