About the role:

The Linux/Unix System Administrator will work with a team of system administrators charged with maintaining, monitoring, and owning the Linux/Unix server and storage infrastructure for GM's development factories. The Linux/Unix System Administrator's duties will include supporting software development managers in deploying new software packages in GM's Linux/Unix environments. This role will also be responsible for documentation and support of processes involving application installation and patching, performance improvement, availability of business server platforms, and troubleshooting technical issues. The Linux/Unix System Administrator will provide proactive monitoring of all development infrastructure, as well as maintaining support for technical issues. The role will also assist in design and implementation of the business solutions for GM's development factories.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related discipline or equivalent experience.

- At least 3 years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration.

- In-depth knowledge of operating systems, hardening of servers, hardware and infrastructure architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with virtualized products (i.e., VMware, vCenter, vSphere)

- Experience maintaining and administering Suse Linux servers in a VMware environment.

- Experience maintaining and administering Sun Solaris servers in a corporate environment.

- Novel Certified Linux Administrator or similar certification.
